Propaganda Brochure

*Create
a brochure or pamphlet that encourages settlers to come out west on the
Oregon Trail (Your destination must match the location you chose for
your final destination on the trail – Oregon or California.)
**Use Propaganda Techniques to sell people on the idea of heading out West:
BANDWAGON
PLAIN FOLKS
CARD STACKING
NAME-CALLING
GLITTERING GENERALITIES
TESTIMONIAL
SNOB APPEAL
TRANSFERENCE
(Mrs. Doughty will go over these with you before the brochure is due.)
*Your brochure should describe the advantages to life out West. Pay attention to historical accuracy – think of things that people in the mid-1800s said to encourage emigrants to make the arduous journey to this new, uncharted territory.
*Your group will use Microsoft Publisher to create the final draft of your brochure. Your brochure will be made with the wizard program, and should include:
A title
Catchy slogan
Facts
Quotes
Graphics and/or maps
*You must cite the references you used (the websites, etc.) on the back page of your brochure… and don’t forget to include your group members’ names.*
